KarpReilly, LLC Completes Growth Equity Investment in Slant, Inc.
KarpReilly, LLC, a Connecticut based private equity firm, announced today the completion of a growth equity investment in Slant, Inc. ("Abby Z"), a leading New York based designer of women’s adult plus sized apparel.
Headquartered in New York, NY, Abby Z was founded in 2004 by Abby Zeichner and Lou Filler. Abby Z is a designer and wholesaler of a complete line of women’s adult plus size apparel. Abby Z’s clothing line is sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom's, Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, Dillard's and abbyz.com. Since its inception, Abby Z has filled a void in the women’s apparel market by creating a sexy and sophisticated clothing line designed for the adult plus size woman’s market with both casual and sophisticated contemporary looks. The Company’s distinct style has caught the attention of all consumers in the women’s plus sized apparel market, including celebrities Emme, Camryn Manheim, Carnie Wilson, Queen Latifah, and Mo'Nique who have all worn Abby's signature clothing on TV and red carpets.
The growth equity investment in Abby Z allows the Company to expand its proven wholesale business model and implement a retail growth strategy. Abby Z's flagship retail location is scheduled to open in 2008 in New York City with additional store openings throughout the United States in the future.
