A full-service canned beverage manufacturing, packing, and distribution company will be opening its first Pennsylvania facility in Philadelphia.
DrinkPAK will be the first tenant of the Bellwether District, a commercial redevelopment project, the former home of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery. The company will lease a 1.4 million-square-foot facility and serve as DrinkPAK’s flagship manufacturing facility on the East Coast, as well as an anchor for the Bellwether District.
Governor Josh Shapiro announced Monday that Pennsylvania secured a $195 million investment from the company, with the Commonwealth investing $2 million to support the project, funded by a “Pennsylvania First” grant. DrinkPAK is also eligible for additional tax benefits, since the Bellwether District is located in a Keystone Opportunity Zone.
“Our strategic investments in site development are helping us win major deals — just another reason why we’re nationally recognized as a top state for business and the only state in the Northeast with a growing economy,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “Pennsylvania offers an exceptionally skilled workforce, a strategic location, and so many other advantages for businesses who want to grow and thrive. We’ll continue to make bold, strategic investments that further strengthen our economy and deliver real opportunity for Pennsylvanians.”
According to its website, DrinkPAK expects to come to Philadelphia by “early 2027.”
Pennsylvania officials project the new facility will create 174 new jobs over the next three years.
